Never Too Busy to Craft
Tuesday, July 15, 2014
If you notice the last entry, I guess you could say that I was too busy to craft for a while! Actually, I have made many cards over the past three years, but I have not uploaded them to my blog. I'm certain everyone hears reasons why people stop doing things they love, so I won't list all of my reasons, but I am proud of one of my accomplishments. In February, 2014, I completed my second Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis on Elementary Reading. It was a lot of hard work and I missed card making and scrapbooking immensely, because my craft room became my office and study area. This summer I have been busy making cards from supplies on hand, card kits from Simon Says Stamp and Studio Calico, and of course my summer hauls both online and at brick and mortar stores. I am looking forward to the SoCal Shop Hop beginning this Friday. Two of my dearest friends are going to join me a couple of times to make sure I don't get lost as I navigate Southern California and the winding freeways and their friendly drivers. I will upload some photos of some of my recent cards. I used some sketches from the Retro Sketches and Mojo Monday blogs. So much knowledge about card making comes from the countless hours I've spent watching YouTube. I will do my best to include the individuals from which I was inspired. In the next three weeks I plan to fill up as much of my time as I can doing what I love before the school bell rings and I meet 28 little people with whom I will spend a school year getting to know and watching them learn. Happy paper crafting!

What have I been doing?
Well, it seems that once school started in August my life has been a constant race. I love my class of little people and am very proud of their progress! My class is awesome!!!! I've had little time to create, but I've made some really cute stuff for my classroom using my Cricut, but have yet to post the photos. I have had a minute here and there to make cards and small gifts. I've taken photos of everything, but once again, have not uploaded them. Eventhough this is a crazy weekend, maybe I'll have time to post a few pictures! Blogging was a way to keep myself accountable so maybe I'll try again. : D

Card Makin' Night
I have been making cards for several hours today. I'm lucky that I can take pretty much as much time as I'd like. I took a little break to watch My Pink Stamper LIVE. Robyn and Karlee are a riot!! I've been casing ideas today and putting my own twist on them and I actually made some cards on my own. I've been making eight of everything so I can start to get ready for gift sets. I haven't posted in awhile, because I re-bookmarked my blog and only bookmarked the reader portion. Ho-hum...I got a couple of new Cricut Cartridges, so I'm anxious to use them in my DBHS scrapbooks for my guys. The Old West is perfect for DBHS, because the alphabet that's included is totally the same lettering as the school. There's a longhorn, but I"m going to pretend it's a Brahma! lol Well, back to work...I'll post the pix later.

I went shopping...
Well, I did some shopping this week and I'm super excited! I finally got the Cricut cartridge, Create a Critter. I've really wanted that one. I got some googley eyes in different sizes to add to some of the finished products. Of course I got some more paper; that's a necessity. Most of my shopping was for little stuff, accents like hemp and bling. Can you believe I even bought stuff for school already? Moose Book folders...check! I made a card on Tuesday. I followed a color scheme challenge on SCS. I'll post it here, because I can't figure out how to make the file smaller so I can post it there. I'll figure all the "posting" stuff eventually. Still no readers, but that's OK. I'm getting things accomplished, because this blog is making me responsible.

Some cards...
These are some cards that I made. Some are from scraps that I had from SU card kits where I didn't have the stamps the directions called for, so I made something out of it myself. I got the ideas for some of the cards from two great SU demonstrators, Tami White and Angie Huey! Thanks gals! I used my Cricut and the A Walk in My Garden cartridge to make the ladybug. I used the Fiskar's grass punch and a SU sentiment from Dare to Be Darling. Most of the paper is from SU. I'm just learning how to post photos and descriptions, so forgive the unorganized description. I promise I'll get better.
